AVOPROST CAPSULE contains Silodosin which belongs to the group of medicines called Alpha-blockers. It is indicated for the treatment of signs and symptoms of Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in adults only.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) also called prostate gland enlargement is a common condition. An enlarged prostate gland can cause uncomfortable urinary symptoms, such as blocking the flow of urine out of the bladder. It can also cause bladder, urinary tract or kidney problems.
Your doctor might want you to take some diagnostic tests before starting with the treatment. Before taking AVOPROST CAPSULE inform your doctor if you have severe liver disease, kidney disease, undergoing cataract surgery, or have ever fainted or felt dizzy.
AVOPROST CAPSULE is not recommended for use in women, children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
The most common side effects of using AVOPROST CAPSULE are abnormal ejaculation, dizziness, blocked or runny nose, and diarrhoea. Consult with your doctor if any of these side effects worsen or does not improve.
AVOPROST CAPSULE treats the urinary symptoms associated with prostatic hyperplasia by acting on certain receptors present in prostate, bladder, and urethra. It blocks these receptors, causing the smooth muscles in these organs to relax.
Take AVOPROST CAPSULE as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking AVOPROST CAPSULE and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Nausea:
Take this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine yourself without consulting your doctor.
AVOPROST CAPSULE is not intended for use in pregnant women.
AVOPROST CAPSULE is not intended for use in breastfeeding women.
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel drowsiness, dizziness or having visual disturbances after taking AVOPROST CAPSULE.
AVOPROST CAPSULE should be used with caution in patients having kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking.
AVOPROST CAPSULE should be used with caution in patients having severe liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking.
Do not take AVOPROST CAPSULE if you are allergic to Silodosin or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

What is AVOPROST CAPSULE and why is it used?
AVOPROST CAPSULE contains Silodosin which is an Alpha-adrenoreceptor blocker, and it is used to treat urinary symptoms associated with benign enlargement of prostate that are difficulty in starting to pass urine, feeling of not completely emptying the bladder, more frequent need to pass urine, even at night. Can I stop taking AVOPROST CAPSULE on my own?
You should not stop taking AVOPROST CAPSULE unless instructed by your doctor as it may cause your symptoms to re-appear. Talk to your doctor if you wish to discontinue AVOPROST CAPSULE.
Is AVOPROST CAPSULE intended for use by men of all ages?
AVOPROST CAPSULE is intended for use in adult men. It should not be given to children below 18 years of age.
How to manage if I miss a dose of AVOPROST CAPSULE?
You can take AVOPROST CAPSULE later the same day if you have missed it earlier. Skip the dose you missed if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not take a double dose of AVOPROST CAPSULE to make up for a missed dose.
Can AVOPROST CAPSULE cause erectile dysfunction?
AVOPROST CAPSULE usually does not affect erectile function. However, it may cause other sexual problems like ejaculatory dysfunction and failure to ejaculate. If you experience any side effects or uneasiness while taking this medication, contact your doctor immediately.
