IOTIM PLUS EYE DROPS is a combination of Pilocarpine and Timolol which belongs to the group of medicines called Cholinergic agonists and Beta blockers respectively. It is used for the reduction of intraocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension or open angle glaucoma.
Glaucoma is a group of diseases characterized by gradual damage to your optic nerve (nerve that carry visual messages), that may result in loss of vision.
Prior to the treatment, your doctor may want you to take certain eye tests to understand your existing condition.
During course of the treatment your doctor might regularly examine your eye to avoid any untoward side effects. Safety and effectiveness of IOTIM PLUS EYE DROPS in children have not been established.
Before using IOTIM PLUS EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you have diseases involving narrowing of the airways, heart or thyroid problems, diabetes, or other eye problems.
It has not been studied in pregnancy so consult your doctor before using it. It should be used with caution in breastfeeding women.
The most common side effects of using IOTIM PLUS EYE DROPS are blurring of vision, difficulty with dark adaptation, headache or eyebrow-ache and eye irritation. Contact your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.
IOTIM PLUS EYE DROPS decreases high pressure in the eye, where pilocarpine lowers eye pressure primarily by increasing the outflow of aqueous humor from the anterior chamber of the eye and timolol reduces aqueous humor production.
Use IOTIM PLUS EYE DROPS as advised by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

IOTIM PLUS EYE DROPS should not be used while wearing soft contact lenses. Contact lenses should be removed before using the medicine and not be reinserted less than 15 minutes after use.
What if I forget to use a dose of IOTIM PLUS EYE DROPS?
If you forget to use a dose of IOTIM PLUS EYE DROPS, take it as soon as you remember and then continue your treatment as usual. Do not use the medicine twice to make up for the forgotten dose.
What should I keep in mind while using IOTIM PLUS EYE DROPS?
While using IOTIM PLUS EYE DROPS, immediately go to your doctor if you develop conjunctivitis trauma, any infection or going to have any surgery. Avoid touching the tip of the medicine to the eye or surrounding structures. If handled improperly, it can become contaminated by common bacteria that cause infections and damage the eye which can lead to subsequent loss of vision.
How do I use IOTIM PLUS EYE DROPS?
Wash your hands before using IOTIM PLUS EYE DROPS. Hold the medicine while pointing it down and tilt your head back. Slowly pull down the lower eyelid to make a pocket. Put 1 drop into the affected eye(s). Wipe off any extra medicine that runs down the cheek. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of this medicine for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Can IOTIM PLUS EYE DROPS make me eyes sensitive to light?
IOTIM PLUS EYE DROPS may make your eyes more sensitive to light. You can try wearing sunglasses to reduce the discomfort in your eye. Consult your doctor if you experience continuous discomfort.
